Arts Center Partners with Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence to Supply Art Kits

A child holds her ink drawing.

We’ve had such great experiences partnering with Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence in our youth STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) program during the school year, that when this summer’s programming offered opportunities to connect in new ways, we ran with it! Our take-home Art Kits provided the perfect format for sharing art experiences safely, remotely and creatively. Thanks to generous support from Tequa Creek, we were able to provide our Music Maker Art a la Carte activity kits to young artists in some of the Boys & Girls Club summer programs.

If you would like to contribute to our fund to provide art kits and financial aid to make art accessible to everyone, click right here.

The cost to the Arts Center to purchase supplies and assemble kits was not part of the budget for this year, but thanks to the generosity of Tequa Creek it became possible. Not only did they contribute $2,500 to establish the kits, they generously offered to match $2,500 raised toward Kits and Financial Aid!

That challenge was met and a new supporter stepped forward!

The Doug and Mary Glasnapp Family Charitable Fund of the Douglas County Community Foundation have generously offered to match additional funds raised toward Financial Aid, up to $15,000!

If you donate today, your gift will be doubled in the community.
