We’d like to give a shout out to our upcoming paper arts classes and teachers! This past spring, our classes moved to a virtual platform at a moment’s notice, and our teachers provided a one-of-a-kind experience. Here’s what some of our students had to say:
“I’ll admit that I had some reservations about shifting from an in-person to virtual class (mostly because I am so fried with laptop screen time these days!), but I’m really glad that I was able to do Nick Stahl’s hand lettering course this spring. It’s pushed me to grow comfortable with new platforms (like Slack), and he’s done a great job providing resources, history, examples, and info while encouraging conversation and questions.
It just so happens that our lesson from last week included some practice with a 4×6 “Thank You” card template and freehand lettering, so I couldn’t resist sending this snapshot to you as my own “virtual thank you!”

“I just want to send feedback from a recent class that wrapped up last week. I enrolled in an online printmaking class from Dayon Royster. It was a Zoom class, and I had my doubts beforehand about how I could learn from home.
Dayon did an excellent job teaching the class! Each class period he was prepared with a very good demonstration …. the teaching was clear, using both verbal and camera-visuals. If I found I needed to borrow a tool or something from the Arts Center, he’d have it waiting the next morning at the front desk.
Frankly, I just thought Dayon did an excellent job under these unexpected circumstances of having to teach online.”
