Performing Arts this May: Getting Ready for Summer

Announcing our SYT Virtual Summer!

Our Summer Youth Theatre season is going virtual! We are excited to offer some amazing opportunities, even if they look a little different. And, if and when possible, we are dreaming about adding in-person elements such as street theatre, outdoor parades, and other fun performance surprises!

A new digital enrollment catalog will be released May 11

Our summer season will officially begin June 1.

Take a look at our full announcement video and check out our audition page for details on how 4th-12th graders can submit their digital auditions between May 1-15.

A Silent One, A Climate Change Opera Begins!

A Silent One, a development piece by Ric Averill that introduces the art and mythology of environmental warrior Memuco, is going virtual! The full work comprises seven chapters presented over seven days, May 1-7, on Facebook Live followed by a Q&A with the creative team on May 7 at 8pm. This pandemic performance is a compilation of work created in quarantine in the home studios and imaginations of local and national visual artists, musicians, students, dancers, designers, and actors who have dedicated much of their stay-at-home work to this project. The chapter-style videos will highlight what is now planned next year as a “gathering” to introduce Lawrence to the art and mythology of Memuco.

Story Slam Continues!
