Summer Enrollment 2020
Throughout the summer, all dance classes will be held online via live interactive Zoom sessions. During the summer session, video recordings will not be available. In-person participation is subject to guidelines set forth by the Kansas Department of Health & Environment, the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department & Arts Center availability. We will come together to dance when it is safe to return, with limited class size and adherence to health/safety guidelines within the building and our studios. Plan for all dance classes to be delivered virtually as we open the summer semester. Families will be notified as updates occur.
Students are required to enroll each semester before attending class. Class listings are available in the online Summer Catalog. Interested students may enroll in classes online, over the phone by calling the Front Desk 785.843.2787 or emailing frontdesk@lawrenceartscenter.org. Once enrolled, you will receive an email confirmation. Prior to the start of class, staff will contact you via email with details regarding Zoom login information for live interactive classes/camps, and class-specific instructions including space, equipment and attire requirements. If applicable, it will also include information about supply kits.
Don’t Forget the Dance Bundle Discount!
Individuals and families who enroll in three or more weekly dance classes receive 25 percent off all dance tuition. Discount pricing can be applied when enrolling online or with the front desk. Families wishing to set up a payment plan and/or apply for financial aid will still need to do so by contacting the front desk staff. The dance bundle discount cannot be combined with any other discount.
Financial aid for the summer is limited but available on a sliding scale based on household income. Financial Aid applications are available online.
Lawrence Arts Center’s Health & Safety Guidelines for Phased Re-Opening
As restrictions on public spaces and gatherings are released, programs will naturally ease into in-person experiences. Because we care deeply about health and safety, this new reality involves being mindful about our physical spaces, as well as how we interact with each other. In response, we will closely follow the phased guidelines for public health outlined by the State of Kansas and Douglas County.
Watch the Arts Center web site to stay up to date on our policies and plans for summer re-opening. Current protocols are detailed in CEO Margaret Weisbrod Morris’s blog.
We are adopting these policies to:
- Protect health and safety at the Lawrence Arts Center.
- Ensure appropriate physical distancing.
- Practice proper infection control.
- Communicate openly with the public about our health protocols.
