Forty Years of Featured Artists Exhibit Now Open

2D and 3D art is hung on gallery walls and displayed on pedestals

The Lawrence Arts Center has been part of this community for four decades. Through the years, we have had the privilege of working with many artists. Indeed, Lawrence has been lucky to be home to numerous talented, creative, and giving individuals. Whether they are established or emerging, the Exhibitions Program is honored to host artists whose ideas and visions bring new ideas and create new conversations in the Lawrence community. For forty years, we have aimed to enrich the community by presenting vital contemporary art and to engage audiences through multi-disciplinary exhibitions that question and inspire.

Since the beginning, the Lawrence Arts Center has remained dedicated to keeping our galleries accessible and free to the public. Exhibitions have been generously supported by a variety of businesses and donors. Emprise Bank, for instance, has been a steadfast supporter for many years. The most significant support to the Exhibitions Program, by far, has come from artists. For forty years, artists have given their original works of art to help support this program. Like the Exhibitions Program, the Benefit Art Auction is a reflection of the wide range of talent and loyal generosity to be found in the artistic community. Over time, the Benefit Art Auction has become one of Lawrence’s signature events, with artists as the foundation of its success.

A long-standing tradition of the Benefit Art Auction is the role of Featured Artist. The 2020 Benefit Art Auction brings together a selection of some of the many Featured Artists who have helped shape what the Exhibitions Program has become. We are grateful for all that they, and all artists, have done to support this program through the years, and we look forward to many more to come.
