Picnic blankets, fireworks, front yard poppies… the bright red hues of summer are on our mind. As visual artists, we love a cadmium, a crimson, a vermilion, and a madder. This summer, Adult Visual Arts has created a new shade… summer discount red! Enroll in any class with an LAC red code in the catalog before Sunday, May 19th, and receive $10.00 off your tuition.
Featured Summer Class: the Shared Table
Speaking of picnics, this summer instructors Thomas Huang and Kyla Strid will co-teach the Shared Table, a collaborative project in which students will construct a dining table, craft ceramic place settings, and share a meal in celebration. Read more about the project here, and enroll now!

New Instructor Feature: the Lawrence Arts Center Welcomes Poet Mercedes Lucero
We recently had the joy of working with writer Mercedes Lucero, as one of our Zinn Writers-in-Residence. The author prompted students of Liberty Memorial Central Middle School to research verse poetry novels and explore their own writing. Learn more about the project here!
We are thrilled to announce that Mercedes will be joining Adult Visual Arts this summer to teach Found Forms, an experimental poetry class. Students will challenge their assumptions of poetic form, considering formats such as grocery lists and receipts as containers for creative writing. Welcome Mercedes to the Lawrence Arts Center, and join her in Found Forms.
Meets Mondays, June 3 – July 22
