Neal Barbour Named White-Riley-Peterson Fellow

The Lawrence Arts Center is happy to announce that our Director of Youth Education, Neal Barbour, has been selected as a 2018- 2019 White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellow!

This ten-month fellowship, beginning in October, will bring together 16 national professionals in the field of afterschool and expanded public programming to initiate changes in statewide policies. Neal will attend a one-week intensive in Greenville, South Carolina this autumn to discuss curriculum initiatives developed in conjunction with the Afterschool Alliance, State Afterschool Network, and the Council of Chief State School Officers. Following this seminar, fellows will work with their local afterschool and expanded learning programs to increase the visibility of available community educational enrichment programs, initiate changes in state policies, increase institutional communications between expanded programs, generate avenues of state and local funding, and ultimately generate awareness of the value of accessible afterschool and summer programming.

Visit  WRP Fellows Class of 2018-2019 to learn more about Neal’s participation, and the Riley Institute for further information concerning the program and its mission statement.

Congratulations, Neal!
