Thanks for feeding Art Space Summer Camps & SYT students this summer!

Students enrolled in full-day camps, and SYT performers and tech crew are provided with lunch by local restaurants. Special thanks to these generous establishments for providing delicious, nutritious meals to our hungry campers!

ARTSpace is the Lawrence Arts Center’s STEAM education program. Acknowledging the vital role art plays in teaching innovative and creative thinking, the ARTSpace program integrates visual art and science for students in 1st-5th grades and is focused on critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation. The integrated curriculum meets national art and science standards and was developed for the program through a grant from the Elizabeth Schultz Foundation of the Douglas County Community Foundation and support from Tradewind Energy, Enel Green Power, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, and Target.

Summer Youth Theatre has been a community staple of dramatic arts education in Lawrence for over forty years. The offerings have recently expanded to include preschool, kindergarten and early elementary students. A behind-the-scenes tech class brings youth together with professional designers to create scenery, lighting and sound. The Summer Youth Theatre Internship program enables experienced youth to mentor beginning students while gaining professional theatre experience.
