Winter Class Offerings by our Artists-in-Residence

Cold weather makes for great studio time! Ceramics Artist-in-Residence Shiyuan Xu makes progress on several beautiful new pieces in her studio on the second floor of the Arts Center.

Taking classes from our Artists-in-Residence, who come to us with a wealth of experience from around the country and internationally, is a great way to learn about new techniques and approaches to art.

Shiyuan Xu was named as Ceramics Monthly’s 2017 Emerging Artist and has received several other prestigious awards and residencies. This January, Shiyuan will teach Paperclay and also team up with Printmaking Artist-in-Residence Michael Benedetti on a new class called Clay + Print = Awesome.

Michael Benedetti recently completed a residency in Ghent Belgium where he studied low-toxic and sustainable options for printmakers. This January, he will teach Relief, a class exploring Japanese hand-printing (Moku Hanga) as well as  Western press-and-brayer techniques.
