October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor those who have suffered from and survived the disease and an opportunity to spread awareness about risk factors, early detection, and treatment.
A few facts you might not have known about breast cancer:
- Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women.
- 1 out of every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their life times.
- Approximately 2,190 men suffer from breast cancer each year.
- Breast cancer can be detected early through regular self-exams, clinical exams, and mammograms.
In partnership with Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the Arts Center is proud to celebrate this important month with a pink production of our very own, Pinkalicious. Based on the popular children’s book series by Victoria Kann, Pinkalicious tells the story of a little girl who loves pink cupcakes so much that she eats too many and actually turns pink!
Weaving together stories of health, happiness, and our favorite rosy hue, Pinkalicious is the perfect way to honor the breast cancer survivors in your life and an excellent excuse to take a moment to educate loved ones about breast cancer. We’ll have more information about breast cancer and women’s health available outside our theater at every performance of Pinkalicious. Buy your tickets today and join us.
