Class Collaborations featured in Benefit Art Auction

This year’s Art Auction features some amazing art and includes collaborative works created in some of our adult education classes!

The “Poetry in Print” class was co-taught this winter by Tonja Torgerson and Mary Wharff, a printmaker and a writer, respectively. This class created a hand bound book filled with student generated poetry. Each student hand set type for two of their own original poems and printed them to create truly one of a kind piece, called “2by10”.

“Pop-Up Paper Sculpture”, taught by Alicia Kelly this winter session, has a pop-up accordion book in the art auction. Each student worked on a separate page, utilizing all of the different pop up techniques they learned in class, to create a collaborative piece focused on Lawrence, KS, called “Unfolding Lawrence”.
