Every year, scores of 1st-5th grade future city planners converge in the Arts Center to create Box City. Each year a different city is chosen to emulate and this year, in honor of the Olympics, the city being built is Rio de Janeiro. Students learn about city planning and engineering and then create their very own structure and role as a citizen to fit into the city infrastructure. Currently, seventy five students are collaborating, creating, designing, and installing Box City Rio. It will be up on Friday through next week so make sure to bring your kids down to play and pretend in this magical pop-up city.
