With four weeks down and four to go, LAC’s first ever Collective Artist Book is almost ready to print. Each student has handmade stenciled templates and typeset original text for her 2-page spread in the book. Next, they’ll ink up the Vandercook and use a pressure process to print the stencils in multiple layers and colors. The class is a mix of collaboration and self-expression and team taught by the printmaking resident, and letterpress and writing instructors. Students chose the theme together, as well as the type style, colors, papers and more. They’ve also shared their visuals and writing as they’ve been developed. In that way, everyone is helping everyone create a cohesive, yet multi-faceted art book. Stay tuned for news about the unveiling!
