INSIGHT Art Talk: The Pleiades Project

The Pleiades Project is an international collaboration of seven artists creating multidisciplinary artwork based on the Pleiades Star Cluster. The collaborating artists are Diana Dunkley, Debra Nelson, Nan Renbarger, and Margaret Rose of Kansas, USA and Australians Estelle Anderson and Peta Milne from the Australian Capital Territory and Lois Denham from Central Goldfields Victoria. The Pleiades Project began in August of 2014 and, as yet, has no ending date.

INSIGHT Art Talk: Casey Whittier

Casey Whittier received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and MFA from the University of Colorado Boulder. Utilizing a variety of forming methods, Whittier recreates elements from nature, unites the landscapes of her reality with the landscapes of daydreams, exploits the visceral qualities of clay, and ponders the power of shared experience. She is an Assistant Professor of Ceramics and Social Practice at the Kansas City Art Institute and serves on the board of directors for Artaxis.org.

2018 Ceramics Symposium

Every two years, the Lawrence Arts Center hosts nationally recognized ceramicists in a symposium on topics central to the contemporary ceramics art world, offering an opportunity to interact and observe ceramic artists working in the top of the field.
