Jenny Doores & Andrew Cho. Devil Take the Hindmost

April 20 @ 9:00 am - May 19 @ 5:00 pm

INSIGHT Art Talk: April 30  |  7 pm Jenny Doores combines bold simplicity and fantastic imagery in her sculptures. Nude women travel on the shells of giant tortoises. A blindfolded woman emotionlessly nurses a bald homunculus in spectacles and a business suit. These figures are robust and idealized archetypes. Lingscheit’s prints and sculptural works explore the myriad ways in which we are enmeshed with the non-human, from the cellular level to…

Shiyuan Xu. Envisioning Invisibility

June 29 @ 5:00 pm - July 21 @ 9:00 pm

Shiyuan Xu is the 2017-18 Ceramics Artist in Residence. Shiyuan Xu’s work highlights the beauty and fragility, rhythm and harmony of natural life forms at the microscopic level. She reinterprets scientific phenomena into art forms. Working primarily with porcelain paper clay, Xu hand builds organic skeleton-like structures with slabs within an intimate scale. Her glazes drip to become a part of the whole structure with added layers giving the work a skin-like surface. Xu tries to reveal the neglected world…
